Windows self-guided walking course
Explore 12 locations displaying posters in windows along Queen Street with our walking group on 25 July or make your way with our map.
As part of the Windows on Queen exhibition there are 12 stores along Queen Street showing their history. Before you go, print out the map and locations (pdf 1.6mb). To get the most out of your walk, download a QR reader to your phone. You can scan the posters for more information about each site, including interviews, extended site information and interviews with owners and community members.
Starting at the corner of Station and Queen St, you’ll find out the past of business and services including St Marys Fruit King, the Crown Theatre – the best place for a date, Guido’s Barber Shop and more. Ending at the corner of Queen Street and the Great Western Highway, where Beacroft’s Butchers once stood, you’ll look into our past to understand the past life and evolution of the St Marys town centre.
