Romance

Romance as a literary genre focuses primarily on the romantic relationship of two people. Characteristically, the story will follow two individuals who meet, fall in love, and encounter an obstacle that disrupts their courtship but is ultimately resolved positively. Romance can fall into a number of sub genres involving sci-fi, fantasy and contemporary but must explore the relationship of the main characters. The genre generally deals with familiar themes of idealised situations, chance encounters, forbidden love and defying the odds in the name of love and romance.

Romance Reviews:

Shivangi, 14
“It gives me a perfect idea of what love is, and although it may not be true, it gives me something to look for in my future. It makes me feel safe, protected and as if I am the main character. I have enjoyed the books: It's Not Like It's a Secret, Impulse, Ingo and Autoboyography.”

Montanna, 13
“It's my favourite genre because it shows the many different ways people fall in love. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a favourite book of mine.”
